Who we are
ChoiceUp, Inc. is a 501(c)(3) nonprofit organization. We run choiceup.org. In this policy, "ChoiceUp," "we," and "us" mean ChoiceUp, Inc. Your trust matters to us. This policy explains what information we collect on choiceup.org, how we use it, who we share it with, and the choices you have. We keep it in plain language so it's easy to follow.
This policy covers choiceup.org only. Our sister site, choiceup.com, is run by a separate company, ChoiceUp, LLC, and has its own privacy policy.
Information we collect
We only collect what we need to stay in touch, process gifts, and improve the site.
Information you give us
Newsletter signup: your name and email address, collected through Mailchimp.
Donations: your name, email, mailing address, and gift details, collected through Givebutter. Your payment card or bank details go directly to Givebutter and its payment processors. ChoiceUp never sees or stores your full card or bank account number.
Emails to us: if you write to support@choiceup.org, we receive your email address and whatever you choose to include in your message.
Information collected automatically
Site usage: Google Analytics collects information such as pages visited, time on the site, the general location your visit came from (city or region), the type of device and browser you use, and how you found us.
Email activity: Mailchimp tells us whether our emails were opened and which links were clicked.
We do not ask for sensitive information, such as health information, through this site. Please don't include it if you email us.
How we use information
We use the information we collect to:
Send the newsletters and updates you signed up for
Process your donation and send your receipt
Thank you for your support and share what your gift makes possible
Answer your questions and requests
Understand how people use the site so we can make it clearer and more useful
Keep accurate financial records and meet our legal and tax obligations as a nonprofit
We do not use your information for advertising, and we do not build profiles of you to sell or rent to others.
How we share information
We do not sell, rent, or trade your personal information. We share it only with the trusted service providers that help us run choiceup.org. They may use it only to provide their services to us.

We may also share information if the law requires it, to protect the rights or safety of ChoiceUp or others, or if ChoiceUp's operations are ever transferred to another nonprofit.
Donor privacy
When you give to ChoiceUp, you're trusting us with more than a gift. Here's our promise to you:
We will never sell, rent, or trade your name or contact information.
We will not share your information with other organizations to send you mailings.
We will not publish your name as a donor without your permission. You can always give anonymously.
You can ask us at any time to stop contacting you, or to update or remove your information.
Givebutter processes donations for us. On Givebutter's checkout page, you may be invited to leave an optional tip to support Givebutter's platform. That tip goes to Givebutter, not to ChoiceUp, and is not a donation to ChoiceUp.
ChoiceUp, Inc. is a 501(c)(3) nonprofit. Donations to ChoiceUp, Inc. are tax-deductible to the extent allowed by law. Purchases on choiceup.com are made with ChoiceUp, LLC and are not tax-deductible donations.
Cookies and analytics
Cookies are small files a website saves in your browser. We use them in two ways:
Analytics cookies: Google Analytics uses cookies to count visits and see which pages are helpful. The reports we see are grouped and don't tell us who you are.
Service cookies: Givebutter and Mailchimp may set cookies so donation and signup forms work correctly.
Your choices:
You can block or delete cookies in your browser settings. The site will still work, though some forms may not.
You can opt out of Google Analytics on all websites with Google's free browser add-on.
Some browsers send a "Do Not Track" signal. There is no common standard for responding to it yet, so our site doesn't change how it works when it receives one.
Children's privacy
ChoiceUp.org is written for adults: educators, counselors, program staff, clinicians, and supporters. It is not directed to children under 13, and we do not knowingly collect personal information from them. If you believe a child under 13 has given us information, email support@choiceup.org and we will delete it.
Your choices and rights
Unsubscribe: every email we send has an unsubscribe link at the bottom.
Access, correct, or delete: email support@choiceup.org to see the information we hold about you, fix it, or ask us to delete it.
Records we must keep: we may need to keep some donation records to meet tax and accounting rules, even after you ask us to delete your information.
Depending on where you live, you may have additional privacy rights under state law. We will honor those requests as the law requires.
How we protect and keep information
We use trusted providers with industry-standard security, and we limit who on our team can see personal information. No website or online service can promise perfect security, but we take reasonable steps to protect what you share with us.
We keep information only as long as we need it for the purposes in this policy, or as long as the law requires.
Links to other sites
Our site links to other websites, including choiceup.com and Givebutter's donation pages. Those sites have their own privacy policies, and we encourage you to read them.
Changes to this policy
We may update this policy from time to time. When we do, we'll change the effective date at the top of this page. If a change is significant, we'll let our email subscribers know.
